Brief
The story and the Instagram post had to be vibrant and employ the colours of the Harper Collins logo – Persian Red (#CE3729) and Cyan-Blue Azure (#377BBF). The company was gracious enough to give me full flexibility as regards the illustration style. Text was provided (it is a godsend to have clients who know exactly what they want).
Deliverables: Instagram Story Template and Instagram Post
Style
I chose to stick to a chalky texture and design with my own handwriting with all its quirks to give the text a lift and make it more interactive.
The Instagram Story had to have questions embedded with space for people to fill in their answers. It was a reader template of sorts. It did go through quite a lot of changes and this is how it looked at the end!
The Instagram Post was quite straight-forward with respect to content. I had to include 6-7 reader types during the lockdown. The challenge was to fit all the illustrations and the text into a single square, 1:1 ratio. I decided to opt for simple line drawing kind of illustrations rather than trying to draw people or more complex designs. The objective here was to direct people’s attention to the text and ensure they interacted with it!
